We will only sell Franck Etouga when we are in financial crisis – Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah
Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer [CEO], Nana Yaw Amponsah has revealed they will sell their best players only the club is in financial crisis.
The Porcupine Warriors under the guidance of Nana Yaw Amponsah has become one of the best performing clubs in the country and on the continent.
However, speaking in an interview, the 2019 Ghana Football Association [GFA] presidential candidate said if supporters of the club don’t turn up at games the team will not have the adequate finances to balance their books.
“If our supporters don’t come to the stadium, how can we maintain Franck Mbella? We’ll be forced to sell players so that we can balance our books,” he told Kumasi based Oyerepa FM.
“Offers are coming in for Franck Mbella and Georges Mfegue. We can only keep these players if supporters are committed to come to the stadium and contribute to the virtual challenge.
“I want to see the supporters who are the fuel of the club contribute much to Asante Kotoko.
“If 10,000 fans attend a single game of our club, averagely we can get about GHC200,000 after deductions.
“Kotoko will bag GHC400,000 in every month which is a huge amount in dollars and we can keep our best players,” he added.
Mbella is currently the top scorer of the club with 13 goals.
The Reds currently sit top of the league log with 40 points and will play Bechem United in the matchday 19 games.
