Winning GPL title will motivate me to work harder - Hearts of Oak coach Samuel Boadu

Samuel Boadu says winning the Ghana Premier League with Accra Hearts of Oak will motivate him to work harder.

The 35-year-old steered Phobians to end their 12 years trophy drought on Sunday.

Hearts of Oak were confirmed winners of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League following Asante Kotoko’s 2-1 defeat to Bechem United.

Speaking after their 1-1 drawn game against Liberty Professionals, Boadu said winning the ultimate will serve as a motivation for him to work harder.

“I will make sure I will not be swollen-headed. I will make sure I work extra,” he said.

“This is a motivational cup or winning so it will prepare me to go higher and higher,” he added.

Salifu Ibrahim sent in a first-half corner which was well connected by Daniel Afriyie Barnieh for the Phobians opener.

There were no goals until three minutes to full time before Paul Kwame drew Liberty Professionals level to peg the entire game at 1-1.

Hearts of Oak sit top of the league log with 61 points, four points better than Kotoko.

The result from that game is insignificant as the Phobians have now clinched their 21st league title and will represent Ghana in the 2021/22 CAF Champions League.

Hearts of Oak will be hosted by WAFA at the Red Bull Arena in the final round of games this weekend.
