World Cup play-off: Nigeria coach Austin Eguavoen to unleash Pep Guardiola’s style of football against Ghana
Nigeria coach Augustine Eguavoen is expected to unleash Pep Guardiola’s style of football when they face the Black Stars of Ghana in the World Cup play-off.
The Super Eagles will play the Black Stars in a two-legged encounter with the winner securing one of the five slots on the African continent.
The first leg of the titanic qualifying tie will be played March 25 at the Baba Yara Stadium before the reverse encounter on March 29 at the Moshood Abiola national stadium in Abuja
Speaking to 3Sports, Eguavoen claimed the Spanish gaffer famous style which has earned him numerous titles is risky but loves it and could unleash it against the Black Stars.
“I love Pep Guardiola’s style of football. It’s a little bit risky, it keeps you on the edge but I love his style of football. But it’s a mixture. You have to mix it up. It depends on the reaction of our opponents,” Eguavoen said.
Nigeria are in search of their 7th World Cup qualification and will have to edge past Ghana to achieve their target.
Nigeria have arrived in Kumasi for the much-anticipated clash on Friday.
Coach Augustine Eguavoen and his technical team arrived with 25 players for the crucial encounter.
In head-to-head meetings between the two West African rivals, Ghana enjoys the superiority having won 25, drew 19 and lost 12 in 56 clashes.
