VIDEO: Takoradi residents invoke curses on Regional Minister over fake pregnancy comment

Resident of Columbia a suburb of Takoradi in the Western Region have invoked curses on the Regional Minister, Mr Kwabena Otchere Darko Mensah following his comment that the pregnant woman in the Takoradi missing case, Ms Josephine Panyin Mensah was never pregnant.

Several videos making rounds on various social media platforms sighted by GhanaPlus.com had the residents, men, woman as well as children led by a gentleman who held in his hand a bottle of schnapps and an egg evoking cures on the minister while calling the name of their deities.

The angry residents indicated if it was true the woman was not pregnant then which ever curses that they had invoked should visit them, however, if the woman in question was indeed pregnant then anybody who had peddled falsehood about her pregnancy, including the Regional Minister, his Assembly members, the police and the doctor whose report informed the comment should suffer the consequences.

Missing but found woman in Takoradi was not pregnant – Regional Minister

The Western Regional Minster, Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah while speaking in an interview  with Kessben TV said the 28year old pregnant woman, Ms Josephine Panyin Mensah reported missing but found was never pregnant.

According to him, the information was gathered from a medical report available to the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).

“From the BNI’s preliminary investigations they said this whole story was fake and the medical doctor who took care of her said she wasn’t pregnant,” he said.

Police declares missing but found Takoradi woman suspect

The Ghana Police Service, on Thursday, September 23 also declared her as as suspect following a preliminary investigations

A statement sighted by GhanaPlus.com and signed by Acting Director–General, Public Affairs, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ASP), Kwesi Ofori said the development had become necessary due to finding of preliminary investigations which suggest Ms Panyin Mensah was never pregnant.

According to the statement, investigations have also revealed the woman may have conspired with another over a possible planned disappearance.

Takoradi missing pregnant woman

Ms Josephine Panyin Mensah, 28years old and heavily pregnant was reported missing on Friday, September 17 by her husband Michael Simmons, after a search for her the previous day proved futile.

She was reported to have left home on Thursday dawn for a walk but never returned.

She was however, reported found in Axim, on Wednesday, September 22, but without the pregnancy nor a baby days after her husband told the police his mother-in-law had a call from an unknown person demanding a ransom.
