I never expected Hearts of Oak move – Gladson Awako
Hearts of Oak new signing Gladson Awako says he never expected a move to the club.
The enterprising midfielder enjoyed a descent campaign with Great Olympics and became a subject of interest for several club both locally and internationally.
However, after securing a move to the Ghanaian giants, Awako says he never thought of playing for the Phobians as the plan was to relaunch the career with the Dade boys and then leave for abroad.
Asked if he thought about a move to Hearts of Oak, he said, “Not really because initially the plan was to comeback and relaunch myself and then maybe to go back again but here is where we are it is didn’t happen that way, and have to play another season with Olympics which has brought me to where I am today, so I never expected it” he told Joy Sports.
The 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup winner is expected to play a key role for the Phobians in their Africa campaign.
They have been paired against Guinean side Club Industriel de Kamsar in the preliminary round.
Hearts of Oak will travel to Guinea for the first leg before hosting CI Kamsar on home turf.
