DEAR KUKUA, when I was in primary school, I stumbled upon my stepmother in her room m*sturbating with her finger and a p*rn magazine.
I am currently 26yrs and I can still remember the incident so vividly that it makes me feel very guilty.
My parents divorced when I was a little kid. I lived with my mum for a while but my dad took custody of me after he remarried. In primary school, I had a habit of entering rooms in stealth mode because I was a shy boy and didn’t want to draw attention to myself. This behavior prompted my dad to warn me seriously to knock before I enter any room.
One evening after I had finished playing football outside with my friends, I entered our living room and then straight to the bedroom without knocking. My dad was at work. When I entered the room, I saw my step mum holding a p*rn0graphic magazine and fingering herself on the bed. For about 3 seconds she did not notice my presence in the room and I left the room again in silence.
I have never narrated this incident to anyone until now. I always feel guilty whenever I see my step mum and I feel like opening up to her someday about the incident. I don’t know how she will take it, I need your advice, please.

My Step mum did not notice my presence in the room for over 3 seconds
KUKUA SAYS: I am so sorry for your experience as a child. Protection for children is key and it is the responsibility of parents/guardians to ensure this.
Your protection was compromised as a child. I applaud you for taking measures to help you deal with the effects of this exposure.
Know that you had no role in what happened. Do not beat yourself for opening the door without knocking that day. That guilt does not belong to you. Your step mum compromised your protection by not locking up. Let the guilt go!
Understand also that people have the right to choose their s*xual lifestyle so let go of any prejudice against choices you are not comfortable with.
I believe this will give your sanity and peace.
With Love,
Kukua.
