Adopt good ways of addressing child protection cases to prevent children from school dropout.

The Northern Regional Program Manager of Markaz Al-Bishara Child Development Program, Joshua Sayibu has urged Parents and stakeholders to adopt a good ways of addressing child protection cases to prevent children from school dropout.
According to him, school children do engaged in activities that do not support their education for instance, kayaye and other related activities that discouraged them from going to school.
Some of the children have left school to engage in kayaye in the Regional Capital, Tamale, due to lack of support from parents, “the Children engaged in kayaye because they do not get enough support from their parents to support their education, so the Children need extra income to feed on,” he stated.
Mr. Sayibu said that, the Children are the future leaders and must be supported with all strength from parents to realized their dream.
He revealed this information at a maiden celebration of Child Friendly Accountability Mechanism (CFAM) club organized by Markaz Al-Bishara funded by Children Believe.
This celebration brought together five schools from the Municipality and one from Kumbungu District to Nangbagu M/A Junior High School in Sagnarigu Municipal, the schools compresses both Primary and Junior High School.
The purpose of CFAM club is to allowed School Children to identify issues that affects them and how to provide possible solutions that would help them to mitigate the issues.
The students Chairman of CFAM club, Abubakari Mohammed Kamil has outline some of the challenges confronting School Children which include school dropout, teenage pregnancy, kayaye, child marriage among other abuse cases.
Speaking on the theme, “Child Protection issues arising in the Sagnarigu Municipal” the Chairman said school children are playing their part as a responsible children and wished stakeholders and duty barriers to also play their part to provide educational services like health, shelter, Justice delivery and social services that would safe as a vehicle to school children to realized their potentials.
In an interview with some of the school children, Zakaria Zainab said some of the parents do not provide enough money to support them and this has led to child marriage, “some of our parents are not having enough money to support our education and when they see you with a male friend they would asked you to get married”.
On a speech read on behalf of the Associate Country Director, Samuel Abdul Rahaman said the CFAM is building School Children’s knowledge, helping them to identify protection gaps and carry out direct action with their Communities to address the gaps.
Mr. Abdul Rahaman added that, Children Believe would continue to build the agency of children and their Communities to monitor the performance and accountability in Child Protection systems as part of their commitment towards meeting Sustainable Development Goal to end all forms of violence against children.
He encourage community members and children to strengthen their efforts and report perpetrators of all forms of violence against children to the law enforcement agencies.
He also called on stakeholders to take such cases serious and act accordingly to avoid more cases.
