AMA awards 2021 Best Farmer with a bicycle

Vida Essel-LampteyThe Accra Metropolitan Assembly(AMA) has awarded this year’s Greater Accra Best Farmer with a bicycle.
The award recipient also received items including a sprayer, pesticide among others packed in a half full mini basket from the AMA.
The package was accompanied with a certificate of honour.
Videos and pictures of the event held at the forecourt of the AMA in Accra have since been sighted by GhanaPlus.com.
The bicycle sighted by GhanaPlus.com comes with the inscription “OVERALL BEST FARMER”.
Ashanti Region’s best farmer awarded with a tricycle
On the other hand, Graphiconline report in the Ashanti Region, Mr Ibrahim Asamoah, a native of Tatale in the Northern Region who emerged as the municipality’s best farmer was awarded a tricycle, otherwise known as aboboya, a certificate, Wellington boots, a standing fan and other farm inputs.

Graphiconline again report, over all best farmer in Sunyani Municipality, Mr Robort Kofi Yeboah was presented with “a tricycle, three sprayers, six cutlasses, bars of key soap, pieces of cloth and three wellington boots among others,”.
At Ayawaso Central Municipality in the Greater Accra Region, the over all best farmer, Mr Kiven Leslie Nii Nunoo Larkai, a poultry farmer received a tricycle, wheelbarrow, knapsack sprayer, wellington boots, spade/shovel, cutlass, agro-chemicals, disinfectants, feed, transport crates and a water tank as his award package.
At Kpone Katamanso Municipality also in the Greater Accra Region, winners of the various categories, 11 farmers in all, were awarded motor tricycles, refrigerators, knapsack sprayers, wellington boots, cutlasses, pieces of wax prints and mattresses.
National Farmers’ Day
The National Farmer’s Day celebration, a government of Ghana initiative to celebrate the contribution of farmers and fishermen to the economic development of the country is held annually in December.
The year’s celebration , the 37th edition was held on the theme “Planting for Food and Jobs – Consolidating Food Systems in Ghana” and was expected to honour farmers across the country who have contributed in diverse ways to the food basket of the country.
The National celebration was held at Cape Coast with the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the Keynote Speaker.
The programme is under the auspices of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture(MOFA).
