Investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, will tonight, 29th June 2020 premiere the first part of an exposé on COVID-19 titled “Ghana ‘quack doctors’ selling ‘cure’

Where to watch Anas Aremeyaw Anas COVID-19 Exposé

The documentary will air at 8 pm tonight on the BBC EYE Channel on BBC Africa YouTube page and TV3 Network concurrently. Graphic Online will broadcast it at 9 pm and GHone TV will telecast the piece at 10 pm.

The 30-minute documentary throws light on activities of some local drug manufacturers cashing in huge sums of money from selling a purported cure for COVID-19 to unsuspecting victims.

The first part of the undercover investigative piece which was done in collaboration with BBC Africa focuses on two self-acclaimed doctors Abdellah brothers, manufacturers of COVID-19 concoction “Abdellah Herbal, COVID-CURE (1)

The second part of the documentary which would be aired in two weeks’ time focuses on corruption in the country’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The investigative piece is said to worth tens of thousands of dollars.

COVID-19 Pandemic

The world was hit by the COVID-19 disease in December last. The Novel Corona Virus disease which begun in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China has since spread to all countries across the world with America, Spain, Italy, Brazil among others hardly hit.

As of today, 10,279,655 cases have been recorded worldwide with 505,139 recoveries made.  505,139 others have died from the disease. Ghana’s total case stands at 17,351 with 112 deaths.  12,994 others have also recovered.

Symptoms and Mode of Transmission

COVID-19 infection is said to spread through droplets produced during coughing or sneezing of infected persons. Symptoms include dry cough, fever, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, the infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome among others.

The COVID-19 diseases, as of today has neither cure nor vaccines. Persons who recovered have only done so only with supportive treatment from medical facilities.
