Bogoso Explosion: Akufo-Addo sends condolences

The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sent his heartfelt condolences to the families of victims of the Apiate explosion.

The President also wished the injured a speedy recovery.

The President made the comment in a twitter post sighed by GhanaPlus.com on Thursday, January 20, 2022.

He described the incident as unfortunate, tragic and truly sad adding government will do everything possible to restore the community to normalcy.

Nana Akufo-Addo noted in another post the various security services and the National Disaster Management Organization, NADMO are working to contain the situation.

“It is a truly sad, unfortunate and tragic incident, and I extend, on behalf of Government, deep condolences to the families of the deceased, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery,” his tweet said.

“The Police, Armed Forces and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) are co-coordinating efforts to contain the situation, and I have also instructed NADMO to see to it that rapid relief is brought to residents of the town,” he added.

Many feared dead in an explosion at Bogoso

Ghana was hit with the news of explosion at Apiate, a suburb of Bogoso in the Western Region today, Thursday, January 20.

The explosion said to have been caused by a collusion of a vehicle transporting mining explosives and a motorcycle claimed several lives and left others with various degrees of injuries.

Police preliminary investigation revealed the mining explosive vehicle was moving from Tarkwa to Chirano mines but collided with a motorcycle resulting in the explosion.

The injured are currently receiving treatment at hospitals within the Bogoso Municipality.
