Vida Essel-LampteyThe Founder of the Atta-Mills Institute, Mr Samuel Koku Anyidoho has called on the Ghana Armed Forces to condemn comment made by the Member of Parliament for the Ningo Prampram, Samuel Nartey George suggesting that the service is a conduit for staging coup.
In a twitter post on Thursday, May 27, sighted by GhanaPlus.com, he described the comment made by the law maker as a loose talk.
“People join the Ghana Armed Forces because it is a conduit for staging a coup? I believe the PR Department of the GAF must come out and condemn the Member of Parliament who lost his tongue and said he wanted to join the GAF to stage a coup to oust the Government of Prez Kufuor”, his twitter post reads.

I wanted to join the Army to stage a coup against Kufour
Mr Anyidoho was reacting to a comment made by Mr Sam George in an interview on 3FM Drive that he had wanted to join the Ghana Army when he completed his University education to enable him stage a coup against the then President of the country, Mr John Agyekum Kufour because he was maltreating the former President, Jerry John Rawlings.
My plan was to go into the Army. There were four of us who bought our forms together, the other three are all senior Majors now, one or two of them should become Lieutenant Colonel by the end of this year if everything goes right. You may have been calling me Major Sam and not Honourable Sam,” he said.
“My mother cried and said no, I won’t go into the military because at that time I was quite young. When I was leaving the university I was 20 years and my dream was to go into the Army and stage a coup because I didn’t like President Kufuor that much at the time.
“I thought he was maltreating Rawlings,” he added.
