 The Board Chairman of Advocates for Christ-Ghana, Mr Edem Senanu has reacted to CNN recent report on Ghana’s anti gay right bill and suppose abuse by LGBTQ+ individuals in the country.

According to him, the United State of America based media outlet was entitled to promote what they want and to so was Ghana.

He said although the report seeks to portray Ghana as a xenophobic state in LGBTQ+ issues, that does not matter, only what Ghanaians deem right does.

Mr Senanu was speaking on TheKeyPoint on TV3 monitored by GhanaPlus.com, on Saturday, October 9.

“CNN has a reputation, not too surprising and I wouldn’t expect them to do anything different from what happened and they are entitled to promote what they want to and to take a position.

“We are also entitled to have a position on the matter so I am not too really  boarded I think what matters is what we as society believe should be in the best interest of the society”.

CNN report on Gay Right in Ghana

The United State of America’s Cable News Network, CNN in a report published on October 8, highlight Ghana’s “Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill 2021″ which seeks to criminalize the practice and suppose abuse and humiliation suffered by LGBTQ+ individuals in the country.

The report was title “How a US group with links to the far-right may have influenced a crackdown on Ghana’s LGBTQ community” told a story of one LGBTQ+ individual who was only identified as Joe for security purposes.

The report was put together by the media station’s reporters David Mckenzie and Nimi Pricewill.

I feel sad for Ghana

Reacting to the report, a lead advocate for the gay right and legal practitioner, Mr Akoto Ampaw said he feels sad for Ghana.

He said Ghana’s position was retrogressing and a conversation devoid of insults must be made to reach a common conclusion.

Mr Senanu was however of the view that LGBTQ+ was not in the interest of the country.
