Sekondi-Takoradi Mayor arrested and to be arraigned before court



The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) has been arrested by the Western Regional Police Command.

According to reports coming in, Mr Abdul Mumin Issah was arrested on Thursday, February 3, 2022, for an alleged motor traffic offence, verbal assault and offensive conduct against a police officer who was performing his lawful duty.

The MCE has been charged on three (3) counts, assault on a public officer, offensive conduct conducive to breaches of peace and disturbing the peace in a public place.

He has also been charged for dangerous driving.

Further information states that he was driving a Toyota Landcruiser with registration number GE 5615 – 20 and is alleged to have driven dangerously and carelessly while approaching a police checkpoint at the Kwesimintsim Cemetery on Wednesday, February 2, 2022.

This was after one of the police officers tried to stop him which he verbally assaulted and threatened him.

He will be arraigned before the court on Friday, February 4, 2022.
