A Member of the New Patriotic Party’s Communication team and Public Relations officer of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr George Ayisi has taken a swipe at ‘Men of God’ in country following the expose’ of the St Monica’s College of Education priest kissing students under the guise of Holy Kiss.
Speaking on TV3 NewDay monitored by GhanaPlus.com on Tuesday, August 17, he said all though he support scriptures on the need to support for men of God to carry out their mandate, some abuse their mandate adding “Some misbehave in the name of the Holy Spirit”.
“There is a chapter in the bible which says touch not my anointing, do my prophet no harm and some of us agree in an absolute term with protecting and supporting men of God to propagate the gospel but sometimes forgive my choice of words, some these men of God misbehave in the name of the holy spirit, am sorry, they misbehave in the name of the holy spirit”.
Mr Ayisi recounted there had been instances where supposed men of God had abuse women including pregnant women all in the name of executing their mandate as representatives of God.
“ You’ve’ seen some of these churches, a prophet will just be lying on a pregnant woman in the name of exorcising some demons from her, a pregnant some even stumping on the abdomen of women and all that that is what I meant by misbehaving in the name of the holy spirit,” he said.
St Monica’s College of Education Chaplin kisses students during Church Service
Mr Ayisi was speaking about the viral video in which an Anglican priest, identified as Rev Father Obeng Larbi and a Chaplin of the St Monica’s College of Education in Ashanti Mampong in the Ashanti region was caught on tape kissing students during a church service.
The video which had sparked discussions about the abuse some women suffers in the hands of some men of God had the priest, fully cloth in his priestly regalia kissing three women in the full glare of other congregants, one of whom permitted him, reluctantly.
The development had been condemned by the Anglican Church and many other Ghanaians.
Speaking about the video, Mr Ayisi said it was unacceptable hence the church must call the priest to order and give him appropriate sanctions to deter others.
