2022 budget rejection: Majority is hallucinating, speaking in tongues

The Member of Parliament for the Sagnarigu Constituency, Alhassan Bashir Fuseini popularly known as Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini has described the Majority group in Parliament’s position following the rejection of the 2022 budget as hallucination and speaking in tongues.

Parliament on Friday, November 26, rejected the 2022 budget statement presented before it by the government after the majority staged a walk out  prior to its approval.

3news.com report the Minority present overwhelmingly shouted ‘No’ rejecting the budget statement.

The majority have subsequently described the decision as void indicating per standing orders of Parliament, the Speaker, Mr Alban Bagbin erred in that regard.

They explained the Speaker requires at least 138 members present before he can put a question and made known their decision to contest the budget rejection.

Speaker Alban Bagbin is however, away on a medical trip to Dubai, a fax message addressed to the Head of Ghana’s Mission, UEA sighted GhanaPlus.com, a day after the rejection of the budget said.

A.B.A Fuseini speaks on budget rejection

But speaking on Alhaji and Alhaji on Pan African TV on Saturday, November 27, monitored by GhanaPlus.com,  A.B.A Fuseini said it not possible for the majority group to overturn the decision of November 26 even in the absence of the Speaker.

He said the majority will be down by one number if the First or the Second Deputy Speaker act in the stead of the Speaker during the proceedings and that will make it impossible to overturn the decision.

“But Sena am just picking from the later part of your presentation that some people are hallucinating that on Tuesday, they will put their own speaker there and pass the budget ………Parliament has its own rule and procedure and even those contemplating that … they can only put the either First or the Second Deputy Speaker and if they put the First or Second Deputy Speaker, does the speaker has a vote?   And will they have I38 again, if they put that speaker there? And so if we come with all our 137 assuming without admitting that even though there will be such a section, where will they get it, it doesn’t make sense…,” A. B. A Fuseini said.

‘It is out of desperation, they are just talking…..They are speaking in tongues and its is only a another tongue speaking person that can interpret it,” he added.
