General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) John Boadu has clarified reports suggesting that the suspension of the party’s former General Secretary has been lifted.

According to him, reports suggesting to the effect that Kwabena Agyapong’s suspension has been lifted is not entirely true.

He indicates that the former General Secretary has officially written to the party to be reinstated as a member after he was suspended.

But John Boadu wrote back to Kwabena Agyapong indicating the fact that it is beyond his office and that he intends to forward it to the National Executive Council when it meets in March 2021.

“What has happened is that the former General Secretary has written to the party that we suspended him indefinitely for some time and since then, he’s been supporting the party so he wants to get the National Executives to determine his status.

He added that “I will forward his request to the National Executives who took the decision for them to determine his status”.

Mr. Agyapong, former Chairman, Paul Afoko and Vice-Chair, Sammy Crabbe were all suspended by the National Executives of the party in 2015 for misconduct.

The National Executives Committee (NEC) of the party found him guilty of violating Article 3(d) of the party’s constitution which enjoins members to publicly uphold the decisions of the party through various acts.
