Ofori-Atta cannot continue to wear white, he is not pure – Nii Yarboi

A Financial Analyst, Mr Michael Nii Yarboi Annan has descended heavily on the Finance Minister, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta over the country’s recent financial woes.

Speaking on Alhaji and Alhaji on Pan African Television monitored by GhanaPlus.com, he said Mr Ofori-Atta is the worst finance minister the country has had in decades.

Mr Nii Yarboi blamed the country’s financial woes on him adding he can’t continue to wear white because he is not white as he seeks to portray.

“You see the finance minister cannot keep on wearing white and assume that we will see him as white because he is not. His management of the finance ministry is the worse in decades and he must be told. Why should we have brought unto ourselves debt instead of equity with regard to this financial sector clean up?…..it is somebody’s recklessness and we need to point it out,” he said.

The financial analyst made the comment when contributing to the 1.75% e-levy proposed by government in the 2022 budget.

Why must we share in your consequences of your  recklessness – Nii Yarboi question gov’t

He questioned why Ghanaians should continue to share in the consequences of the government recklessness.

“Look let us not miss words because when it falls it falls on each man’s head. I am paying, you are paying,” he said.

“Nobody today is talking about the poor management of the economy but the issues with VRA has not changed. Bottom-line, they are still making looses why because of  the exchange. We have been promised better managers in terms of the currency. BOG operations nobody is looking in there, why did we deplete all our reserve in 2020 just to achieve a 3.9% depreciation to the currency against the US dollar and come out there and say oh we are doing well. This is your doing well ?. You took the praise for it. You won an election for it. Why should I today share in that blame? In the name we are all Ghanaians?. No. People must now be accountable for the decisions they do take. They have kept taken on reckless decisions that have landed us here and nobody is able to point it out to them,” Nii Yarboi lamented.
