Vida Essel-LampteyManaging Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Mr Kwesi Pratt Jnr has express worry over the ongoing litigation against the former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board, Dr Stephen Opuni.
According to him, the case was taking a turn similar to that of the former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Company, Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata who was jailed for causing financial loss to the state.
Mr Pratt Jnr said the case had everything embodied in Mr Tsikata’s case and that was a worry to him.
“To start with as a lay person, this case is increasing becoming like the Tsatsu tiskata case .. all the ingredient are there and for me as a lay person it doesn’t give me any comfort at all. It doesn’t give me any comfort at all because the matters as far as am concern are not settled yet”.
Mr Kwesi Pratt made the comment while speaking on Good Morning Africa on Thursday October 28 monitored by GhanaPlus.com .
Honynuga reinstated
The renowned journalist was contributing to discussions on the reinstatement of Justice Clemence Honynuga as a trial judge in the prosecution against Mr Opuni.
A review panel of the Supreme Court, on Tuesday, October 26, overturned a decision by an ordinary bench of the court removing Justice Clemence Honynuga over argument of bias filed by Mr Opuni.
The 4-2 decision said the earlier decision to remove the presiding judge and to quash his decisions has been overturned.
That was after the Attorney General; Mr Godfred Dame Yeboah filed a petition challenging the removal of the Supreme Court judge from the case.
He argued the judgment by the bench contained fundamental and grave errors hence a miscarriage of justice done.
However, speaking about the decision, Mr Pratt questioned why the panel couldn’t agree on the decision.
Adding that smirks of a grey area in the case against the Dr Opuni.
