Vida Essel-LampteyLeader of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) Caucus in Parliament, Mr Haruna Iddrisu has said the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo seem to be sleeping on the job since he began his second term in office.
That he said was because the President as at today, some five month into his second term had still not been able to constitute boards and appoints Chief Executive Officers to run the various government institutions effectively.
Speaking in an interview on PM Express on JoyNews on Monday, May 24, monitored by GhanaPlus.com, he said the development was a mark of bad governance.
He lamented such duties should have been a priority to the President and not be left in the hands of ministers.
“It appears to me as at today that he is probably sleeping on the job, you don’t have boards and corporations even having Chief Executive Officers, boards have not been constituted, that is a mark of bad governance, you don’t leave this to ministerial actions and ministerial decision”.
“I just think that the President will have to repurpose the Presidency, boards and corporations not in place, decentralization system have come to a halt so who is acting in that capacity, all those are matters that are important and urgent that a serious President must be attending to them in the four five month into his administration,” he added.
We will hold government accountable
The Minority Leader noted, his caucus was ready to meet the high hopes Ghanaian have in them to ensure accountability from government as parliament resumes sitting today, May 25, 2021.
He noted the government duty was to work to make life better for the Ghanaian and that the NDC would hold the government accountable for, going forward.
“There are huge expectations of me as the Minority leader and of the caucus to endeavour to hold President Nana Addo Dankwa and his government accountable to the Ghanaian people and to endeavour to ensure that he works to improve the lot of the Ghanaian and he works to improve the quality of life of the Ghanaian,” he said.
