The former National Chairman of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah has taken a swipe at government following closure of shops in the Ashanti Region by traders as a result of the falling cedis.

Speaking on TV3 NewDay on Tuesday, October 11, monitored by GhanaPlus.com, he said government and it officials must eat the humble pie and sit down with the traders to find lasting solutions to the problem.

He noted it was unfortunate government and it appointees have failed to listened to sound advice the result of what is evidence in the country.

For Mr Mornah,“for where we sit, It is shameful, it is disgusting that our government think that they have all the knowledge, and when people want to talk they come and tell us that we are cocoa nut heads. Those without coconut heads this is how much they can lead our nation?,” Mr Mornah lamented.

“I think that we must eat humble pie. These traders themselves understand what ought to be done, we are engaged in unbridled importation. We are engaged in profligate expenditure and above all we are blaming only external factors for the economic shocks that we are experiencing so government officials needs to reduce their ego, and their inflated and fat inflated ego, sit down with the traders and this is what I say, majority of the people who are running the show do not even understand practically how the ball is played. They should sit down with the traders, this is the situation we find ourselves . We have run this country aground do you have any suggestions ideas as to how we will be able to scale the difficulties we have put our country to?,” Mr Mornah said.
