Vida Essel-LampteyThe Director of Legal Affairs of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Abraham Amaliba has descended heavily on the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante for calling critics of government agenda 111 hospitals project witches.
Speaking on TV3 NewDay on Friday, September 3, monitored by GhanaPlus.com, he said the President was no longer the problem of the country but the moderator and many men of God who have failed to call the president to order despite his corruptible and extravagant behavior.
He said as a man of God, it was incumbent on him to be measured in his utterances and not to rain insult on Ghanaians for expressing genuine concern about the project.
“I think the problem is not the President; the problem is that Presby Moderator who in spite of all the challenges we have in this country is insulting people who are criticizing the agenda 111 programme .Such a person instead of him to look at some of these things and call the President out and tell him that Mr President don’t do this at this time, he is rather, a pastor oo, a priest who should be magnanimous in the way he speaks, who should have a kind heart is insulting people for criticizing agenda 111 that for him, of all the problems in this country, this is the one that he thinks it an issue for him,” he said.
Mr Amaliba was speaking about the President recent trip to Germany and the £14,000 per hour flight charted for the trip.
According to him, such matters were what the Presby Moderator should be concern about and criticize the President accordingly.
You are a witch if you are angry about agenda 111
Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church,Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante at the commissioning of the Assin Praso Presby hospital in the Central Region described critics of the agenda 111 project as witches who seeks to derail the effort of the government in addressing the health care facilities deficit in the country.
“We’ve allowed politics to dominate our lives to an extent that we do not have good hospitals… If someone says he is coming to construct 111 hospitals and you are angry about it, you are a witch. For the pastors, who want to exorcise witchcraft, deal with those critics,”
He also called on the President not to provide substandard facilities in the name of agenda 111 project least he would be criticized by him and concern Ghanaians.
