The Dean of Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Dr Vladmire Antwi Danso has said Ghanaians may be making a storm in a tea cup over Meek Mill’s video shoot at Ghana’s seat of government, the Jubilee House.
“I strongly believe that we are making a storm in a tea cup. If I should be frank with you I haven’t seen the video yet but I believe the case is a foreign artiste have been given the permission to be at the Jubilee House and done some video recording or whatever it is and that is what is causing the calculation then I bet to differ .
“Because Ghanaian artiste have seen some videos where they share London Bridge, Buckingham Palace. People have got permission to shoot to back their music and this video clips go a long way to sell their music, sell the culture of the other places,” he explained.
Dr Antwi Danso was speaking on TV3 News360 Monday, January 9, monitored by GhanaPlus.com.
He said he is more concerned about the Akosombo dam, a government facility which provides electricity across the country than the Jubilee House which house the President.
He noted although, both have undeniable significance to the country, an attack on the Akosombo dam will be dire than the Jubilee House adding “If Nana Akufo-Addo is killed, within 10mins, there will be another president” unlike the Akosombo dam.
“I said this morning at your sister station that our concern should not be on that the Jubilee House per say have gotten a foreigner there. Between Jubilee House and the Akosombo dam which one do you think is of serious concern when people are going to take photographs?,” Dr Antwi Danso said.
“From where I sit and security thinking, they are both parts of the centres of our gravity… If people take pictures and enemies are able to do something in the Jubilee House it is a big problem but if the Jubilee House is attack today and God forbid, Nana Akufo-Addo is killed, within 10mins there will be another president, right? But if Akosombo dam is attacked and the dam broken by say a kilotone bomb the number of people who will die …..but we don’t have that security details you are talking about,” the renowned Security Analyst said.
“I am more worried about Akosombo dam than Jubilee House; we don’t have any guarantee guarding Akosombo. You can drive all the way to the top,” he revealed.
Antwi Danso on Meek Mill music video shot at Jubilee House
American rapper, Meek Mill who was recently in Ghana for the Afro Nations Concert on Sunday, Januray 8, released excerpts of a music video he shot at the seat of government at Canda in Accra.
The video featured portions of the edifice declared a highly security zone to the public and most importantly, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s lectern, from which he addresses the Ghanaian public whenever the need be.
The video shot on the very day, the rapper met the President at the Jubilee House for a chit chat on his arrival into the country, portions of the lyrics of the song chance upon by GhanaPlus.com, however, has nothing to do with Ghana or the Presidency.
But Dr Antwi Danso said there is nothing to worry about since the musician might have been made to satisfy some requirement before being granted access.
Meek Mill has however, pull down the video and apologies to Ghanaians after the public descended on him and the government.
