2021/22 Ghana Premier League Week 17: Match Report: Prince Opoku Agyemangs’ late strike earns Bibiani Goldstars a point in Obuasi
Former Medeama forward Prince Opoku Agyemang scored late to rescue Bibiani Goldstars from defeat against Ashantigold at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium on Sunday.
The miners were held to a 2-2 draw on home turf in matchday 17 of the Ghana Premier League.
Ashantigold who suffered a 2-0 defeat to Bechem United hoped to return to winning ways in the final match of the first round of the domestic top-flight but could not materialized.
Winger Yaw Annor opened the scoring for the home side in the 24th minute before Emmanuel Appau restored parity in the 57th minute for the Bibiani-based club.
Frank Akoto scored to put the miners in the lead again but Prince Opoku Agyemang who joined Goldstars in the second transfer window proved his worth by scoring late to hand his outfit a point at away.
Ashantigold hoped to win but Goldstars who defeated Aduana Stars last Sunday proved to a tough side.
The former Medeama attacker scored ten minutes to time to secure an all-important point for his new outfit in Obuasi.
It is his first goal of the campaign after failing to score in 9 games for the Yellow and Mauves before his move to Goldstars.
