2021/22 GPL: Hearts of Oak 0-0 Asante Kotoko- Match Report
Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko played out a pulsating 0-0 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium in the Super Clash.
The Match Day 7 fixture which was postponed due to Hearts of Oak’s participation in the CAF Inter Club competition finally came off on Sunday.
Both sides created a couple of decent scoring opportunities but were unable to utilize their chances.
The Phobians dominated the early changes and should have taken an early lead when Daniel Barnieh set up Kwadjo Obeng Jnr, whose strike hit the post.
Few minutes later Barnieh also came close but missed a glorious opportunity to break the deadlock.
The Porcupine Warriors slowly warmed themselves into the rhythm of the game with their best chance of the half came Mudasiru lobbed the ball to Mfegue inside the box, but the Cameroonian striker’s beautiful overhead kick was tipped off the bar by Hearts of Oak’s goalkeeper Richard Atta for a corner.
After the recess, Etouga and Richard Lamptey both came close within minutes as Kotoko continued their ascendancy.
However, the tempo of the game slowed down as the minutes went by with both teams cautious not to concede.
The match eventually petered out to a 0-0 stalemate to signal the end of the first round of the Ghana Premier League.
More to follow soon…
