Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta charges Thomas Partey to boss club midfield
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has charged Ghanaian international Thomas Partey to be boss the club midfield ahead of his return to action.
Partey, who sealed a big money move from Atletico Madrid to the Gunners in 2020 summer transfer window has struggled with a series of injuries and is yet to live up to expectations.
The deputy Ghana captain missed the clubs first three matches of the season after sustaining an injury during pre-season but is in contention to start against Norwich City this weekend.
However, Mikel Arteta, who sees Partey as one of the leaders in the team has charged him to be the boss in the midfield as they seek to turn things around.
“He is a player that has to be one of the leaders, he has to be the boss in midfield and one of the senior players that has to carry responsibility out of the young players and lead. We have been missing that big time.
“He has that winning culture, because he has won a lot in the game already, and to have these kinds of players in the team is extremely important.
“So, he has got a huge role to play in the team.” He said.
