Awuah scores late goal as Forge FC earns draw against HFX Wanderers

In a 1-1 tie with HFX Wanderers FC in the Canadian Premier League on Sunday, Kwame Awuah scored deep into second-half stoppage time to give Forge FC a point.

Forge, who have only lost once in their past four matches, got a goal from Awuah in the sixth minute of added time.

Alex Marshall’s redirection from within the six-yard box gave the Wanderers, who have now gone three games without a win, the lead in the 16th minute.

As the seconds ticked away in injury time, the visitors hung on to their advantage, and it appeared as though they would capture all three points.

Awuah’s last-ditch effort — a long-range floater from the left side that could have been a cross into the box or a wonderfully placed shot — flew past goalkeeper Christian Oxner and into the net.

Tim Hortons Field’s 3,566-strong audience exploded in applause. As the referee blew the last whistle, it was the final kick of the ball.
