Borehole strategy will roll out soon – GFA President Kurt Simeon-Okraku assures
President of the Ghana Football Association Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku has assured, that plans are in place to fix all poor pitches in the League through the borehole strategy.
His comments come on the back of the recent decision of the Club Licensing Board to revoke match venue License of some clubs, especially in the Premier League.
“Our idea of the borehole strategy is still in place we’ve had a very good engagement with FIFA, we’ve gotten very, very far with the process. I’m very positive that soon the borehole strategy will roll out. President Simeon-Okraku told Joy FM
“And when it’s done it will be the responsibility of the club owners to ensure that they apply the water that will be generated and the pitches will be properly kept.” he added.
Currently, about three match venue Licenses have been revoked over poor state of pitches. The Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park, Nduom stadium in Elmina and the Golden City Park in Berekum have all been closed down.
The Club Licensing Board is also embarking on spot-checks to ensure compliance with club licensing standards during the second round of the League season.
