Esperance appoints former Southampton U-23 coach Jaidi as head coach

Former Tunisia international Radhi Jadi has been appointed as the new head coach of Tunisian giants Esperance Sportive de Tunis.

After retiring in 2012, Jadi switched his attention to coaching, and five years later, he took over as manager of the Southampton U-23 team.

In his second season in control, he guided the Saints to promotion to the Premier League 2 Division 1 after finishing second behind Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The following season, the retired footballer was hired by USL Championship club Hartford Athletic. The former Esperance defender produced great results once more, finishing second in the Eastern Conference table with 35 points and advancing to the quarterfinals.

However, they were eliminated from the competition after losing to Saint Louis FC, which also happened to be the 45-year-final old’s game in the United States.

Later that year, Jadi returned to Europe, when he was chosen as assistant manager of Cercle Brugge in Belgium, where he helped them finish in a respectable seventh place in the league.

Jadi has agreed to a two-year contract that will keep him in charge of Esperance Sportive de Tunis until June 2023.
