Exclusive: Chris Hughton hold talks with Ghana government officials at Jubilee House; assured of Black Stars job

Former Premier League coach, Chris Hughton has held talks with officials of Ghana government on Monday over the vacant Black Stars coaching job, Footballghana.com can exclusively confirm.

The former West Ham United and Brighton boss has been strongly linked to the vacant job for the past week.

The Black Stars coaching job became vacant following the sacking of Milovan Rajevac after a horrendous performance at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] in Cameroon.

Rajevac, who signed a one year renewable deal in September 2021 was shown the exit after Black Stars for the first time in 2006 exited the tournament at the group phase with just a point.

Ghana finished 4th in a group that had Morocco, Gabon and Comoros.

However, Hughton, who has been in the West African country for the past one week after a four hours marathon meeting at the Jubilee House has been assured of the job by government officials.

Chris Hughton has massively received the backing of some parliamentarians for the vacant job.

Black Stars despite the poor AFCON campaign will play Nigeria in the 2022 World Cup playoff in March later this month.

Ghana will be hoping to return to the Mundial after missing out in 2018 in Russia.
