Fatawu Issahaku believes star-studded Black Stars can match any country at AFCON 2021
Dreams FC teen sensation Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is confident the Black Stars can compete with any country at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana has come close to ending the trophy drought in the last decade, 2010 Angola losing to Egypt in the finals and in 2015 Equatorial Guinea- Gabon as the Stars lost to Ivory Coast on penalty shootout.
The 2021 AFCON has been slated for January 9 to February 6, 2022 as 24 countries battle it out for the ultimate.
The enterprising midfielder has been one of the top performers in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign with his consistent performance for Dreams FC.
The AFCON U-20 best player was part of the Black Stars team for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers where he made his debut against Zimbabwe at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
He is hoping his performances will guarantee him a place in the Black Stars squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament next year.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Kessben FM monitored by Footballghana.com, the 17-year-old winger said he is confident the Black Stars can beat any team they face at the AFCON tournament.
“To me, football can change at any point in time, you can meet a tough team but in the course of the game things can change so am confident we can beat any country we meet at the AFCON because I have confidence in the team” he said.
“Ghana possess threat to other countries because we have a lot stars in the team like Andre Ayew and others, they know them so I believe they are afraid of us”
