Future Stars defeat Asekem FC to qualify for Division One
Future Stars have qualified to play in the Division one league after a remarkable comeback to beat Asekem FC 3-2 in the final of the Ashanti Regional division two Middle League on Sunday.
The Kwamo based side came back from two goals down to defeat the Beposo based side 3-2 at the Ejisu Okese Park.
Asekem who topped their group with 9point were tipped by many to clinch the division one qualification after an excellent run in the group stages.
The Beposo based team had a dream start to the game when Isaac Frimpong and Anthony Opoku gave them a 2-0 lead before the 40th minute.
James Manu reduced the deficit for Future Stars just before the break following a shot outside the Penalty box.
Future Stars grabbed the equalizer just after the break following a defensive error.
Asekem were handed advantage after John Amankwah of Future Stars was given his marching orders for a bookable offense.
Future Stars despite going a man down grabbed the winner on the 78minute, James Manu captilalized from a goalkeeping error to blast home in an empty net.
Asekem huffed and puffed with a late pressure but couldn’t get the equalizer.
Future Stars after 14 years in the Division Two secured qualifications to the 2021/2022 Division One League Zone two.
