Gerald Asamoah opens up on Schalke’s three-year plan to return to Bundesliga
Ex-German international of Ghanaian descent, Gerald Asamoah has disclosed that if Schalke 04 misses out on promotion at the end of the 2021/22 football season, there will still be hope for the team and its fans.
According to the former player who is now serving as the head of the licensed player department, there is a three-year plan in place and the club will push to ensure that at the end promotion will be secured.
“We have a three-year plan. For Schalke, promotion to League 1 would not necessarily be necessary this season – at least from a financial point of view,” Gerald Asamoah told Sky90 in an interview.
Since the demotion to the German Bundesliga 2, Schalke 04 has performed fairly well but has not quite had the strongest squad to push for promotion.
The team has however improved in the past year and could be a force to reckon with next season.
