Ghana's Majority Leader 'damages' Asante Kotoko players

The Majority Leader of Ghana’s Parliament, Honorable Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has passed judgement on the current squad of Asante Kotoko.

The Suame MP who doubles as the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs believes the current playing body lacks the needed quality to reach the levels Kotoko’s squads in the past possessed.

Hon Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu is a self confessed Asante Kotoko fan and delivered this verdict while lamenting about the fallen standards in the club.

It’s been a season where Asante Kotoko has struggled for success on the field of play. In the first year of the Nana Yaw Amponsah led management, the Porcupine Warriors have gone trophiless; failing to win the Premier League or the FA Cup.

The situation has caused quite a stir in the club and ha sled to various stakeholders sharing views on the way forward.

Speaking to Kumasi-based Silver FM in an interview, the astute politician said “If you look at the time of the likes of Yaw Sam Kofi, Osei Kofi and Oliver Acquah, and compare to the current players of Asante Kotoko, clearly it will be very difficult for them to make the first team.

“Maybe they will have to settle for the reserve team of Kotoko. If we are being truthful to ourselves,” he added.
