Ghana’s Wheelchair Tennis team have been attacked by armed robbers in Nigeria.

The team was returning from the World Cup Africa Qualifiers held in Abuja from 8th to 12th February 2023 when their vehicle was attacked at Ogun State.

The incident happened at about 2:am on Tuesday, February 14.

Three of the players including Ghana’s No. 1 Seed Bernard Yawson sustained injuries during the attack and have received treatment.

Their valuable belongings were also taken away by the armed men.

Ghana’s Wheelchair Tennis team, led by Ghana’s No.1 seed, Bernard Yawson together with their Coach, Philip Plange departed from Accra on  Saturday February 4, to Abuja, Nigeria for the 2023 ITF World Team Cup Africa Qualifiers.

Information available to GhanaPlus.com said the team traveled by bus and was returning through same to cut cost due to luck of funds when the unfortunate development happened.
