I will like to see Ghana bidding to host AFCON – CAF president Patrice Motsepe
The President of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe has urged Ghana to put in a bid for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The successful businessman was in Ghana last week and took time off his assignment to fraternize with the football community.
At a press conference at the secretariat of the Ghana FA, Patrice Motsepe said he will like to see Ghana bidding to host the AFCON very soon.
“I will like to see Ghana put in a bid to host the Africa Cup so we can come back. So there are ongoing proposals to host it,” Patrice Motsepe shared.
Ghana since the inception of the AFCON has hosted the tournament on three different occasions. The first was in 1987 before two more hosting in 2000, and 2008.
The next AFCON will be hosted by Cameroon in January 2022. The following year, the tournament will be hosted in Cote d’Ivoire.
