I wouldn’t have joined Kotoko if I had a manager – Richard Mpong
Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Richard Mpong has expressed disappointment of not having a manager in his career, saying he wouldn’t have signed some contracts.
The 31-year-old has spent a chunk of his career in the country featuring for Gamba All Blacks, Medeama, Asante Kotoko, Aduana Stars and Elmina Sharks.
He is currently a free agent after leaving Elmina Sharks at the expiration of his contract.
Mpong joined Kotoko from Medeama in 2012 and according to him, he would have earned more money considering his form at the time with a manager.
In an interview with Sylvester Ntim of Aben FM in Koforidua, Mpong indicated he wouldn’t have signed for Kotoko if he had a manager at the time.
He said, he would have earned lucrative deals if he had a manager.
“I have never had a manager in my career and I think that has affected me. I sign contract myself, so I am sometimes being cheated. I wouldn’t have joined Kotoko from Medeama if I had a manager” he said.
“I should have earned more money with my move to Kotoko because I was on top form when I joined them but because I didn’t have a manager, I received something less” he said.
