Issah Abass nets brace on HNK Rijeka league debut

Issah Abass netted a brace on his league debut in HNK Rijeka’s draw with Dinamo Zagreb in the Croatian top division on Sunday evening.

HNK Rijeka extended their advantage at the top of the table after a dramatic 3-3 draw with Dinamo Zagreb at the Maksimir Stadium.

Dino Peric gave the home side the lead in the eighth minute, but Issah Abass equalised after 22 minutes of play.

After Lovro Majer put Dinamo Zagreb ahead in the 33rd minute, two-goal hero Issah Abass cleverly grabbed another equaliser in the 38th minute.

Josip Drmic gave the visitors the lead two minutes before halftime, but Mislav Orsic’s goal in the 60th minute tied the game at 3-3.

In the 87th minute of the game, the 22-year-old was substituted by his teammate Nino Galovic.

Abass joined the Croatian top division on a season-long loan from FSV Mainz 05 in the German Bundesliga.
