MTN FA Cup: Giants Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak progress, while Dreams’ Cup dreams are dashed, Check full list of qualified teams
Defending Champions Asante Kotoko have progressed to the round of 32 of the MTN FA Cup following their Round of 64 win over Bekwai Youth Football Academy.
Goals from Fabio Gama and Emmanuel Keyekeh secured victory for the Porcupine Warriors over the Division One League side. Kotoko are seeking glory in the competition to ensure a double success this season.
Coach Mariano Barreto’s side are on the hunt for the league title and doing a league and Cup double certainly appeals to the entire Porcupine fraternity.
In form Hearts of Oak also run riot over fellow Premier league side Liberty Professionals at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Hearts of Oak whose winning run got extended to 6 in all competitions easily brushed aside Liberty Professionals 3-0 on Wednesday.
Daniel Afriyie Barnie bagged a brace while Kojo Obeng Jnr’s first half strike added to the goals to help Hearts advance.
In other results, Inter Allies crashed out of the competition after losing 5-1 to Tema Youth at the Tema Park.
Division One League campaigners Skyy FC also posted a 2-0 win over Premier League side Ebusua Dwarfs at Daboase.
In Sogakope, WAFA were too hot to handle as they beat lower tier side Akatsi All Stars 4-0 at the Red Bull arena to progress.
Phar Rangers also battled to a shootouts win against Dreams FC at the Akuapem Mampong Park. The Division One League side won 4-2 in the shootouts after holding Dreams FC to a 2-2 draw in regulation time.
