Okwawu United new board chair Sammy Anim Addo rallies support

Newly appointed board chairman of Okwawu United Samuel Anim Addo has called on the club fans top rally behind them as they seek to turn the fortunes of the team around.

The Ghana Football Association Executive Council member Sammy Anim Addo was appointed board chairman of the Nkawkaw based club on Thursday, September 9.

He heads a five-member board which includes Kingsley Adofo-Addo as secretary, Yaw Obeng [Finance Director], Emmanuel Akoto-Bamfo [Marketing and Corporate Director] and Prince Boateng [Operations Director].

Life Patron of the club, Kwahuhene Dasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II has tasked the board to restructure the one-time Ghana Premier League stalwart.

A portion of the press statement read released on Thursday, 9 September 2021, read: ” The board is expected to bring the club back to its former enviable position, as a powerhouse in Ghanaian football which competed in the elite division.”

However, in an interview with Accra-based Hot FM, Anim Addo called on the club fans to support the board in the quest to restore lost glory.

“Yes, it’s true I have been appointed as the board chairman of Okwahu united by Dasebere Akuamoah Agyapong ii (Kwahuhene)” he confirmed

” I will appeal to every Okwahu native to come and support the team for the lost glory to come back. The plan is to bring Okwahu utd back to premier” He concluded.

Okwahu United, as a Division One club, were runners in the Ghana FA Cup in 2016 but has since between relegated to the third-tier of Ghana football.

They were one of the giants of Ghana football in the 80’s and represented the country at continental levels.

They made it to the second round of the CAF Cup winners cup in 1987 and were withdrew in the first round in 2001.

The club has produced several talents including the likes of Mohammed Gargo and C.K Akonnor.

Several great Coaches in Ghana have led the Nkawkaw based side, some of the top coaches to lead Okwahu includes Sam Arday, Herbert Addo and Jones Attuquayfio (all three coaches are late).
