Opoku Nti lauds GFA for competitive GPL season
Ghana and Asante Kotoko legend Samuel Opoku Nti has described the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League season as competitive and commended the Ghana FA for it.
The ongoing league campaign has offered exciting football and several twists of narratives almost every weekend. Along this stretch the season has offered several story lines on potential league winners.
At various stages of the season, Great Olympics, Karela United, Medeama SC have all become huge favorites for the title. At present the battle is between Ghana’s football giants, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak who are going neck to neck for the title. They are both on 53 points and okay a potential title decider in a matter of days.
Sharing his impression of the season in total, Opoku Nti told Kumasi based Silver FM that, “Considering the post Covid-19 challenges and how things have panned out since the league commenced, I think it’s been very competitive.
“I wasn’t around when the league actually started but upon my return, I told a few friends that Hearts and Kotoko will peak in the second round and now it’s happening.
“This is happening because they both recruited more players and changed coaches. So they had to go through a transitional period since that is how football works.
“It was only a matter of time and that’s why it’s not surprising that bith teams are now challenging for the league title”, he concluded.
