SAFA disgraced as FIFA dismisses far-fetched protest against Ghana
The South Africa Football Association (SAFA) has been disgraced after its frivolous protest case filed at FIFA against Ghana has been dismissed.
SAFA led by its President Danny Jordaan run to FIFA with a protest in November after the Bafana Bafana had lost 1-0 to the Black Stars in the final Group G encounter of the Africa qualifiers.
The South Africa FA claimed there was match manipulation by the officials of the game to help Ghana gain a penalty to win the match played at the Cape Coast Stadium.
Among other allegations made, SAFA claimed that it had information that a top official of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) held a meeting with the match referee to influence the crucial game prior to the matchday.
Despite all the allegations and name-calling made by SAFA and its President Danny Jordaan, FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee has today thrown out the protest.
“The protest lodged by South Africa has been declared inadmissible by the Disciplinary Committee as it did not meet the requirements foreseen under art. 46 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code and art. 14 of the Regulations of the Preliminary Competition of the FIFA World Cup 2022,” a FIFA statement has said.
The latest ruling by FIFA has subjected SAFA to ridicule on social media and although it is likely they will appeal the case, this is expected to bring shame to South Africa football.
