Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu rejects Black Stars call up for AFCON 2021 – Reports
Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu has reportedly turned down a request to play for the Black Stars at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations next year, Footballghana.com can reveal.
The four-time African Champions are chasing a fifth Africa Cup of Nations title after last winning the competition in 1982.
Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac is expected to name his 40-man provisional squad today to begin preparation next week in Qatar for the tournament.
He will then prune his squad to 28 for the Nations Cup in Cameroon from January 9 to February 6, 2021.
Footballghana.com can report Salisu has asked the country’s football governing body to excuse him from the Cup of Nations squad.
Ghana have been drawn in Group C alongside Gabon, Comoros Island and Morocco.
