Sports Ministry summons GFA to emergency meeting today after catastrophic Black Stars display at AFCON

The Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Culture has summoned the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to an emergency meeting today to plan on the way forward to restore the glory of the Black Stars.

The male senior national team on Tuesday exited the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament after a poor showing in Group C that the side failed to win a single match.

Appalled by the performance of the team, the Sports Ministry says the display of the Black Stars was not just disappointing by abysmal as well.

“The entire country is extremely disappointed by the abysmal performance and early exit of the Black Stars from the ongoing 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports shares in the nation’s sentiment,” the press release signed by Minister Mustapha Ussif has said.

Keen on making things right, the Ministry is now set to meet with the leadership of the Ghana FA today.

“The Ministry has summoned the Ghana Football Association (G.F.A) leadership to an emergency meeting scheduled for Friday, 21 January 2022 to urgently discuss and take decisions aimed at salvaging the performance of the Black Stars especially in the next set of games,” the release adds.
