‘Stop sacking coaches mid-season’- Kofi Kordzi pleads with Hearts of Oak

Former Hearts of Oak striker Kofi Kordzi has advised the club against sacking their head coaches mid-season.

The 26 year old- who is currently on the books of Qatari second-tier side Muaither SC, argued that the practice tends to have a negative impact on team performances long term.

The lanky forward also drew comparison with top European clubs as a model of how coaching crisis should be managed.

“Changing of coaches during the course of the season doesn’t really help because if you study the big clubs in Europe they mostly leave the team for the coach to work until the season ends” Kordzi said in an interview with FootballMadeInGhana.

Hearts of Oak have had three coaches so far in the ongoing 2020/21 Ghana Premier League campaign.

The Accra-based giants began the season with Serbian trainer Kosta Papic who was relieved of his duties after barely three months in charge.

U-15 head Coach Samuel Nii Noi was appointed on interim basis before former Medeama coach Samuel Boadu was named as the permanent replacement in March.

“In Ghana there is always a call for a coach to be sacked when things get difficult and that also accounts for the inconsistency of players in the local league” Kordzi lamented.

”So I will plead with Hearts to exercise patience with their coaches and allow them to work for at least one full season before deciding” he concluded.

After 25 rounds of matches in the Premier League this season, Hearts occupy the second position- just two points adrift league leaders Asante Kotoko on 45 points.
