U-20 AFCON final hero Afriyie Barnieh to get $5k cash gift from Prez Nana Addo
Ghana President H. E. Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo has promised to gift an amount of $5000 to Black Satellites captain Daniel Afriyie Barnieh.
The Hearts of Oak attacker is receiving the above quoted sum as a result of his leadership qualities and displays on the pitch during Ghana’s conquest of the rest of Africa at the recently ended U-20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Mauritania.
Fresh from leading Ghana’s battles on the pitch to win the WAFU Zone B Championship, Barnieh was instrumental amidst a barrage of criticism to as Ghana delivered the trophy.
Barnieh scored both goals as the Black Satellites defeated Uganda 2 nil on Saturday’s final to win the ultimate, a first for Ghana since 2009, and fourth overall.
As a congratulatory gesture, the President, Nana Akuffo Addo has pledged to gift him an amount of $5000.
The president’s promise comes after the gallant Ghana U-20 side visited him at the Flagstaff House to present to him the trophy won at the showpiece in Mauritania.
