Youngster Justin Diehl scores three goals for FC Koln U19 Against Dusseldorf U19

With a clear victory 6-1 against the Rhenish rivals from Dusseldorf, the U19 of FC Koln clinched their first win of the season in the Bundesliga. Youngster Justin Diehl scored three times.

After the defeat at the start of the season at Schalke and the end of the DFB Cup during the week against Borussia Monchengladbach, the A-Juniors of FC Cologne finally wanted to knock over the goat in the home game against Fortuna Dusseldorf. Thanks to more consistency in the end it succeeded impressively in front of the present scouts of KRC Genk, the Belgian opponent in the Youth League next Wednesday

Compared to the cup game, coach Ruthenbeck Ben Decker rotated for Carlo Kettig and Namory Cisse for Damion Downs in the first team. Right from the start, the billy goats determined what was going on on the pitch and had their first chances early on. First, Philipp Wydra forgave (4th minute), then Cisse failed just 60 seconds later at the Dusseldorf keeper, who was also there when Simon Breuer pulled off with his left foot (23rd).

FC Koln stayed on the trigger and rewarded themselves after half an hour: Meiko Waschenbach sent Cisse on the trip with a long ball on the right side. The tall center forward defeated a Fortuna defender and passed the ball flat into the center, where Justin Diehl ran in in a full sprint and made it 1-0. The goal did the junior international well after his most recent unsuccessful appearances. After a fine flat-pass relay, Wydra’s playground equipment came back to Diehl, who this time finished too centrally (32nd). Five minutes later, Diehl shows his whole class: played at the corner of the penalty area, the 16-year-old danced out his opponent and hit the far corner with a rich and perfectly timed shot. The 2-0 lead in the 37th minute – at the same time the half-time result.

A short moment of shock shortly after the break: past the powerless FC goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, the kickers from the state capital shortened the score to 1-2 in the 53rd minute. But unlike the Bundesliga opener on Schalke, the Cologne team reacted with positive body language after the goal and stayed on the trigger. First, Wydra barely forgave (57th), then Diehl put together his three-pack. Played by the substitute Fadeev, Diehl penetrated the penalty area, rounded the Dusseldorf goalkeeper and easily pushed in to make it 3-1 (63rd).

The game was decided, but the A-Juniors continued to step on the gas and rewarded themselves with three more goals: With his last action in the game, Diehl served the eager Cisse, who scored 4-1 via the inside post (71.). After a strong preparatory work by substitute Nicolas Urso, captain Simon Breuer dusted off (5-1, 78th) and central defender Rijad Smajic headed a corner to make it 6-1.
