Vida Essel-LampteyFrancis Addai-Nimoh, a former New Patriotic (NPP) Member of Parliament for Mampong Constituency in the Ashanti Region has described some of the promises made by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government as far and over.
The NPP’s Presidential hopeful made the comment on TV3 NewDay, monitored by GhanaPlus.com on Tuesday, September 27.
Mr Addai-Nimoh particularity made reference to the government’s promise to build a sky train when the country has much to do on those on lands.
“Well to some extent, yes. Maybe I will say some promises were far and over. To build a sky train when even on the land railway line we have not even put up so many kilometers of it. Even Tema to Boankra and where we are thinking of the inland port at Boakra , the Tema all the way to the Boankra rail lines is not functioning. We need to build a new one and then we can have the Boankra inland port to be effective and efficient to run,” Mr Addai-Nimoh said.
“…….. so on the campaign you may be tempted to say a lot of things that you think that you can do but whiles you are in government, you now have to see the envelope, the purse, know how much in flows do you have then you can review and be realistic and tell your people that we gave you that we will do these, it is not possible, we can’t do it and you must give a justification and I think that is where the people will also say that look, yes, you said these things, you can’t do it and you have shown us the justifications why you can’t do it and they will still have the confidence in you,” he added.
Mr Addai-Nimoh was responding to the questions on whether the NPP government promised Ghanaians too much.
Akufo-Addo Promises to Ghanaians
The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo prior to his elections in 2016 and even his re-elections in 2020 promised Ghanaians a better Ghana, contrary to what is being experienced by Ghanaians presently.
Among the many promises he made was the Free Senior School Education, One District, One Factory, One Constituency, One Million Dollars, One Village, One Dam, One Child One Chocolate, One District, One Ware House and many more.
The Akufo-Addo led government also promised among other things, a sky train in the country’s capital Accra, rent allowance for the youth, cars for motor riders, otherwise known as Okada riders.
Many of the promises are yet to be achieved.
One village one dam – Addai-Nimoh
Speaking on the One Village, One Dam promise, Mr Addai-Nimoh said it is not possible to have a dam in every village in the country
“A programme like one village, one dam is something that I maintained my position on it that look, we can’t have a dam in every village in Ghana,” he stated.
