NPP’s Addai-Nimoh admits the Akufo –Addo gov’t promised Ghanaians too much

Francis Addai-Nimoh, a former New Patriotic (NPP) Member of Parliament for Mampong Constituency in the Ashanti Region has admitted the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government to some extent promised Ghanaians more than they could achieve.

In an exclusive interview with TV3’s Johnnie Hughes on NewDay on Tuesday, September 27, monitored by GhanaPlus.com, he said some of the promises were far and over.

According to him,the promise to construct a sky train for instance was too much since the country was still struggling in even developing those on land.

“Well to some extent, yes. Maybe I will say some promises were far and over. To build a sky train when even on the land railway line we have not even put up so many kilometers of it. Even Tema to Boankra and where we are thinking of the inland port at Boakra , the Tema all the way to the Boankra rail lines is not functioning. We need to build a new one and  then we can have the Boankra inland port to be effective and efficient to run,” Mr Addai-Nimoh said.

“…….. so on the campaign you may be tempted to say a lot of things that you think that you can do but whiles you are in government, you now have to see the envelope, the purse, know how much in flows do you have then you can review and be realistic and tell your people that we gave you that we will do these, it is not possible, we can’t do it  and you must give a justification and I think that is where the people will also say that look, yes, you said these things, you can’t do it and you have shown us the justifications why you can’t do it and they will still have the confidence in you,” he added.

Mr Addai-Nimoh, an NPP Presidential hopeful was however, happy the President has began admitting to the fact that some of his promises cannot be achieved adding that admission is part of leadership.
