Mr Minister of Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta has opened up about in recent ill health which took him outside the country.

Ofori- Atta travels to the State over post COVID-19 complications

It could be recalled the Minister, about nine (9) months ago travelled to the United State of America to seek further medical attention for post COVID-19 complications.

 A statement released by the Public Relation Unit of the Ministry of Finance on Sunday, February 14, said the trip was made upon the advice of his doctors and he is expected to spend two weeks while there.

“The Ministry of Finance wishes to inform the general public that and stakeholders that Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, the Representative of the President at the Ministry of  Finance and Minister designate for Finance will travel to the United State of America today for a special medical review, the statement said.

“After recovering from COVID-19 last December, Mr Ofori-Atta has had medical complications which doctors’ advice requires further interventions not currently available in Ghana,” it added.

Ofori-Atta speaks on ill health

Responding to a question on Good Evening Ghana, on Thursday, November 18, Mr Ofori-Atta said he has been battling with inflammation of the Kidney”.

He explained it happened after he recovered from the deadly COVID-19 disease and has since been put on steroids the reasons for his recent looks which have become topical in the country.

“I got COVID in somewhere of November and got out of the hospital emergency maybe the 10th of December and came home. Things were pretty good, the COVID was gone, then, I began to feel jaundiced and so feeling quite unwell.

“I eventually got diagnosed that the liver was inflamed, therefore, it required some work to determine what was really happening. That took some time to begin to find the probable cure which involved steroids and all of that.

Mr Ofori-Atta however, explains he is currently doing better than before and would hopefully return to his normal life pretty soon.

“So, I went back for review in August and the inflammation is pretty much gone and so, they are now titrating to see how to bring the steroids down so that one can get back to a normal life.

“But essentially pretty much minded and need to manage my rest and sleep and exercises and some good food,” Ken Ofori-Atta
