Invest in lives; God does not dwell in temples anymore - Bishop Korankye-Mensah

The Presiding Bishop and General Overseer of the Transformation Assembly Church, Bishop Fred Korankye-Mensah has urged the government to invest in lives if it indeed wishes to build a temple for God.

That he said was because God in the new covenant dwells in men as such building lives equate to building a temple for him.

“In the Old Testament, David was so fascinated about building a temple for God, Solomon was so consumed with that vision because under the old covenant, God lived in buildings so a temple was a necessity. We need to build a temple for him to dwell in but under the new covenant, the Bible says that God lives  in men so if you want to build for God, why don’t you build lives. Why don’t you put that money into lives? Why don’t you look at people, focus on people and take care of people. I think God will be more please with that”. he said.

“God does not live in temples any more. Temples are important but I am the temple of God so why do you put the money in a building and I go hungry?,” Bishop Korankye-Mensah quizzed.

Re-conciser the priority placed on the construction of the cathedral – Bishop Korankye-Mensah

Bishop, Korankye-Mensah although admitted the significance of the cathedral to Christianity, he said the timing is wrong, especially, in the face of the economic difficulty in the country.

He is of the view; the cathedral shouldn’t be the country’s priority at the moment and urged government to reconsider the urgency placed on the building of the facility of which the cost has become a cause of concern for many.

“I think that we can put that in other things. You see a national cathedral is not bad it a national symbol, I mean it will help Christianity, it will help in building peoples lives but not when our areas are flooding. Not when people are hard press. Not when we are being squeeze to pay taxes on almost very thing. Not when prices of goods are rising up through the roof. I think that it shouldn’t be our priority now. ….I think there is nothing wrong with it, but I think that the timing is absolutely not right”.

Bishop Korankye-Mensah was reacting to the building of the national cathedral in the face of economic difficulties and recent brouhaha which has graced its financing.
